┌──────────────────────────────────────────────┐
│ New features and changes in E88 version 3.00 │
└──────────────────────────────────────────────┘
Expanded screen: The screen has now been expanded to 78 columns. This feature
allows editing of longer lines without having all the
extensions. Try the new format on text files such as those
on the PC-Pursuit BBS. The extra columns really come in
handy.
Search & Replace: E88 now has a search and replace function. Varible lenth
strings of up to 16 characters can now be searched for and
optionally replaced. The S&R function provides a logical
line search with visual and audible feedback for the user.
Enhanced Control: The numeric keypad control features have been enhanced. Word
searching on the line is now available by pressing the Ctrl.
key in combination with the left and right arrow keys.
Another new control feature allows the user to make the
current line that the cursor is on the new top of screen.
Pressing Ctrl PgUp will do this. And finally pressing the
combination of Ctrl PgDn will page the editor to the last
screen where editing occured. This key combination serves
as an extra pager which allows the user to look all over the
file and then return instantly to where editing last occured
Change edit file: The user may now load and edit another file without
returning to D.O.S. The current file may be saved or
discarded and another file specified for editing.
Mini-merge: The circular buffer contents can be transferred between
edit files allowing the user to copy lines from one file
into another. Great for 'plucking' out a small subroutine
or a couple of paragraphs for inclusion in another file.
New Default file: Another default file feature has been added. The user may
now create a special personality file for use with each
edit file. When the edit file is loaded the file's directory
is searched for a corresponding PGR file. If this file is
found the editor will be set up to the special parameters
specified in the PGR file. This feature allows the user
to preset the colors, pagers, tabs, and special characters
to be used when editing. This feature does not effect the
E88SETUP.DEF file but in fact overrides it only when the
PGR file is found.
Printer call chg: The F2 and Alt.F2 functions have been reversed. The default
print mode when using F2 now prints without the arrows. Alt.
F2 retains the arrow protocol however.
Last chance: The user is now given a chance to return to editing when
the QUIT * RETURN TO DOS * NO SAVE command is issued.
Faster access: The disk access speeds are faster than ever.
Registration form: A registration form is now provided in the .DOC file to
make registration a snap. It is highly reccommended that
all satisfied users of E88 try out this feature.
